Brighton 2009 "Power of Pink" Jewelry Promotion at the Woodlands Mall to benefit The Weathervane Foundation

Posted 10-09-2009

Brighton Accessories — which has raised over $3 million for breast cancer charities since 2003 — is offering a bracelet and I.D. Holder this October to empower women who are challenged by breast cancer and help fund the effort to find a cure.

In the U.S. alone, 40,000 women are still dying each year from breast cancer, and Brighton is committed to keep doing its part to help with prevention and finding a cure. Their 2009 jewelry pieces will be available to women from September 25th through October 31st in 142 company-owned Brighton Collectibles stores across the country and at participating specialty stores that sell Brighton. The company will donate $10 to charities for each piece sold.

More than simply being beautiful jewelry for women to wear, the pieces are also a symbol of the passion that women feel for helping those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and the compassion they have for everyone who loves someone suffering from this illness. When people see these pieces, they will feel strength in knowing that the person wearing the jewelry truly cares and, beyond that, is actually doing something to help.

The owner and founder of Brighton, Jerry Kohl, explains his dedication to making a difference in this matter. “For each woman who suffers, it is also tragic for everyone who cares about her. Watching someone go through successful treatment can be brutal and, if treatments do not work, it's heartbreaking. I know this because I lost my own brother to cancer – liver cancer. The dollars going to research through promotions like ours will affect breast cancer survival and fund the cure that we hope will come soon and will also spill over into helping people to survive other forms of cancer. To succeed in this cause which profoundly impacts us all, it will take each one of us doing our part and giving generously to the charities.”

While creating the jewelry for this year's promotion, Brighton’s designers were inspired by the idea of “keeping one’s heart open to possibilities” so the Power of Pink Bracelet, $48, dangles a heart charm scattered with pink enamel heart motifs. The charm slides open sideways to reveal the words – “Trust your journey” and “Everything is possible.” The message is intended to remind the wearer that, by being willing to embrace whatever is happening – even something she never wanted to experience – there is a gift to be found at the end of the journey.

Fashion and function combine in the second Power of Pink piece. At $40, it is an I.D. holder, a visible show of support to those who have faced or are facing breast cancer, and a reminder to get regular check-ups. The pink enamel ribbon motif is surrounded by “new life” – 15 fine Swarovski crystals show the light of life within each bloom. A clever hidden hinge mechanism keeps I.D.s from falling off.

Whichever of these pieces a woman chooses to wear, she is lighting the way toward a cure and being a visual example for others to do the same.

Brighton Collectibles at The Woodlands Mall in Woodlands, Texas has chosen 2 area charities to donate proceeds to this year: The Weathervane Foundation founded by Fran Padgett and The Breast Cancer Charities of America – Woodlands location. Please help us support these charities by purchasing the Breast Cancer jewelry and donating to our raffle items in the store. Phone orders are welcome 281-419-1211.
